River Meditation

Inspired Affirmation

I am the source of constant change.

I am the waters that bind me to humanity.

I am the rain that cleanses me.

I am the current that pushes me.

I am the torrent that shapes its path vigorously.

I am the compass that I need.

I am the ice that sculpts my intentions.

I am the snow that transforms to become one again with the stream.

I am the mist that rises representing my dreams.

I am the stone that feels both the cold and the warmth.

I am the bedrock that gets its edges worn.

I am the pebbles feeling unrest.

I am the ground that settles.

I am the roots that take hold.

I am the tree that will not be chopped down.

I am the branches that reach out.

I am the leaves that hang strong in the storm.

I am the air that fills my breath.

I am the wind that sweeps aside uncertainties.

I am the whirlwinds of change.

I am the light that sees everything.

I am the flame that lets me feel life.

I am the fire burning with passions.

I am the sun that rises from obscurity.

I am the sunset contemplating the night.

I am the seasons that dance around our star.

I am the space between everything, close and afar.

I am the flow that lets me grow.

I am the wild.

I am strong.

I am.

About the process

This project has been on the back burner for a few years….

I started taking these photos mid-March 2015 and finished mid-April 2016.  There are 315 images total taken from the patio doorway off my kitchen.  I was away a few times on vacation and some days probably just got away from me…

The montage process was very discouraging on the first three tries.   The framing of the foreground relative to the cascades in focus was impossible to align without distorting every single image…  Stabilizing the image was also an issue because there was no way I could shoot level and exactly the same all year-round, and managing my Photoshop files was headache inducing.

Sometimes, for certain things, the mind needs a pause to reassess the situation and create a manageable system or workflow.  Also, in the meantime, one of my favorite video creation software made some upgrades that would inspire my fourth attempt.  Thank you Animoto for your strong platform and your new burst mode ! ( Use this link to give me referral credits ; )

I decided to crop out the foreground so that my workflow and framing would be easier.  I ended up creating seven master files to keep all my layers organized without weighing down my processor.  This also lets me archive my work since my external hard drives will not let me transfer 5 gigabytes + files…. You know.

To conclude, the emotions created by the final product inspired me to write.  It had been a while and my form may not be perfect...  I have not worked my ‘inner’ creative bones much in the last few years and this project not only let me finish something I started a long time ago, got me creating again (for the sake of creating), but it also helped me reconnect to one of the reasons I love art and photography : Capturing moments in time and remembering that everything changes all the time.  Change is the only constant.

Thank you for reading and watching, I hope you enjoyed !!

Please feel free to share and comment and have a beautiful day !

You are loved,
